Center for Jewish History

The Center for Jewish History serves as a collaborative home for the American Jewish Historical Society, American Sephardi Federation, Leo Baeck Institute, Yeshiva University Museum, and YIVO Institute for Jewish Research. The archival collections held at the Center for Jewish History constitute the world’s most comprehensive documentation of the modern Jewish experience outside of Israel, with more than five linear miles of papers, publications, recordings, films, and photographs, and over 60 terabytes of digital assets.
This site offers centralized access to written descriptions of thousands of archival collections housed at the Center for Jewish History, including essential information such as the size, date range, subject coverage, and arrangement of resources. Individual finding aids typically include a historical or biographical note, scope and content note, and inventory of boxes, folders or items. Although some collections are partially or completely digitized, to view a collection in its entirety will require a visit to The Lillian Goldman Reading Room.
