The Jewish Genealogical Society offers many resources for New York area research.

If you live outside New York City , visit the International Association of Jewish Genealogical Societies (IAJGS) to find a local group near you and network with other researchers.

One-Step Webpages by Stephen P. Morse offer a variety of search engines for multiple online databases (Ellis Island and Castle Garden passenger lists, NYC vital records, U.S. Census records, Social Security Death Index, Canadian and British Census, and others).

The National Archives and Records Administration genealogy page explains what resources are available from NARA and how to access them.

JewishGen, a division of the Museum of Jewish Heritage in NYC, offers many opportunities for networking, database searching, and participating in volunteer projects.
