The Gruss Lipper Digital Laboratory was established at the Center for Jewish History in 2005, thanks to a generous gift from the Gruss Lipper Family Foundation. The mission of the Digital Lab is to serve the Center community by providing a safe and reliable digitization service and a secure, accessible, high-quality digital library of materials from the Partners' collections. The Digital Lab has recruited experienced staff, invested in state-of-the-art hardware and software and developed standards-based policies and procedures to fulfil this mission.
In order to develop sustainable digital collections that will be useful and accessible over the long-term, the Digital Lab also maintains a "Trusted Digital Repository" in which to catalog, manage and preserve the Center community's digital assets, most of which are available online in CJH Digital Collections.
By providing a full range of high-quality and standards-based digital collection building services, the Digital Lab makes an important contribution to the preservation, access and educational missions of the Partners and the Center itself.
