The Center is a unique venue for hosting dinners, conferences, receptions, family and life-cycle events. Surrounded by exhibition and gallery spaces throughout the venue, our facilities include the 247-seat, state-of-the-art Leo and Julia Forchheimer Auditorium, the 2,500 sq.ft. Paul S. and Sylvia Steinberg Great Hall, the Valentin M. Blavatnik Orientation Theater, three flexible classroom/meeting rooms, and the atrium space of the Selma L. Batkin Mezzanine which overlooks the Great Hall and the beautiful terrazzo floor installation, Biblical Species, by Michele Oka Doner. Private viewings of the exhibitions of four of the Center's partners can be organized, and special arrangements can be made for viewing the exhibitions of the Yeshiva University Museum. Located in the Union Square/Chelsea area, the Center is easily accessible by most train lines, many bus lines, and several parking garages. Blavatnik Orientation Theater Perhaps one of the first institutional media theaters designed specifically for viewing archival images, the recently opened Valentin M. Blavatnik Orientation Theater was created to provide an informative, engaging introduction to the Center for Jewish History for both first-time visitors and those already familiar with the Center's mission and facilities. This modern orientation facility is suited for both intimate lectures and special presentations. It is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including a 65" high-definition plasma screen that allows for DVD and PowerPoint presentations, cable access, and a custom lectern that enables control of lighting permutations in the room in order to enhance the experience of viewing the archival material.
