| The Center for Jewish History is one of the great public Jewish historical and cultural institutions in the world. The Center embodies a unique partnership of five major institutions of Jewish scholarship, history, and art. The Center is currently seeking to fill the following position: Comptroller/Finance Manager The Center seeks a dynamic and energetic professional who is able to provide innovative leadership and a commitment to implementing new initiatives at the Center. The position requires strong organizational and management ability, superior communication skills, and the ability to develop and implement special projects. There must also be a demonstrated ability to communicate and interact effectively with diverse constituencies (academicians, administrative staff, board members, donors, and the general public). The Comptroller/Finance Manager must be a hands-on finance professional. The Comptroller will manage daily finance functions with the assistance of a small staff; oversee cash management and assist with investing activities; prepare annual budgets for departments and compare budget to actual results on a regular basis; present financial information as necessary to the executive staff and lay leadership; prepare and/or coordinate all accounting reporting, including workpapers for the annual audit; ensure that fiscal requirements for grants and contracts are identified, in compliance and monitored; and serve as liaison with independent auditors, attorneys, insurance brokers, government auditors, funding sources, the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors, banks and vendors. The ideal candidate for the Comptroller/Finance Manager position will have a minimum of 5 years of full-time financial management experience, excellent organizational and analytical skills, and excellent communication and presentation skills. Candidates with Blackbaud Financial Edge software experience a plus. Senior Development Officer The Center seeks a dynamic and energetic professional who is able to provide innovative leadership and a commitment to implementing new initiatives at the Center. The position requires strong organizational and management ability, superior communication skills, and the ability to develop and implement special projects. There must also be a demonstrated ability to communicate and interact effectively with diverse constituencies (academicians, administrative staff, board members, donors, and the general public). The Senior Development Officer will help enhance, implement and manage an integrated development program. As a member of the senior management team, the Officer must be able to strategically optimize a program that engages donors and prospects. The Officer will identify, develop and expand the Center’s donor pool and its annual giving program. The Officer will work closely with the development team on foundation relations and grants, donor communication, and special events. He or she will report to the chief operating officer. The Senior Development Officer must have a minimum of 5 years of full-time experience with increasing responsibility and an emphasis on fundraising. The ideal candidate will possess an entrepreneurial spirit, excellent organizational and analytical skills, superior communication skills, ability to develop and implement appropriate work plans, and offer high energy and a desire to succeed.
